About Ellison's
Our story
Founded by Steve Morris and Sarah Marshall, a Low Fell couple with a passion for good food, Ellison’s is a unique and diverse location for food lovers, offering a deli service, coffee shop and intimate dining experience.
After buying a run down building on the corner of Kells Lane and Dryden Road, The Dotty House was created, a wonderful shop with quirky products in the heart of Low Fell. Realising the potential of the building, the idea of Ellison’s was born. The initial idea was to create a coffee shop but as time went on Steve and Sarah realised that a deli and bistro would work well in this increasingly buzzing area in Low Fell.
Using the history of the building, originally built by Lord Ellison, on a street that in 1875 was called Ellison Road, Sarah and Steve decided that the most fitting name for the new business was Ellison’s.
The team at Ellison’s take great pride in their work and focus on providing the highest standards of food and service in a venue with a great vibe.
Meet our team
The kitchen team are an experienced group of chefs who all excel in different areas and who thrive on the buzz of Ellison’s open kitchen.
They are encouraged to be as adventurous and creative as they can be in the kitchen which results in some amazing dishes on our menu.
The kitchen team is led by Head Chef Toni Hewison, a skilled chef with extensive culinary experience. Toni started her career at Rockcliffe Hall as a pastry chef and moved on to work across a number of well respected restaurants including a favourite of Sarah and Steve’s The Big Mussel. As Head chef at Big Mussel Toni developed a passion and now specialises in cooking seafood. Some of Toni’s seafood dishes have proven to be our most popular at Ellison’s.
Front of House
Our Front of House team is led by Manager Ryan Lemmon, who has been working in hospitality since leaving University.
He is a local lad with great ideas and an influencing attitude that ensures the rest of the team provide the best service to customers. The front of house team are encourage to give their invaluable thoughts and ideas on how service can be improved.
